Tell us about your family…spouse, kids, pets?

I have an adult daughter named Marina who is in her final year of college. For the past five years I have been caring for my elderly parents at their home in Wantage. I have an older brother who lives in Pennsylvania with his wife and two daughters. I was divorced in 2004 and have remained single since then though I am prayerfully optimistic that the Lord will lead me to a suitable sister in Christ for marriage.

What is your title or role at HBC?

Elder

Give a brief description of what you are responsible for…

The Elders at HBC follow the biblical model of pastoral leadership by a plurality of Elders. We Glorify God by applying Gospel-centered faith and the scriptural mission of the Church to ourselves, our families, our brothers and sisters in Christ, our communities and “to the end of the earth”.

What do you love most about what you do at HBC?

I really consider the membership covenant, the explicit agreement of a Gospel-based relationship with my brothers and sisters in Christ, to be what I do at HBC. I love the growth in discipleship I have experienced and have witnessed in those around me at Highlands and I love being a meaningful part of other people’s walk in faith with our Lord and Savior Jesus.

What is your favorite Bible verse, and why?

I always seem to return to Paul’s vision of Christ in 2Corinthians, chapter 12, verse 9: “…My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness….”. This simple statement summarizes the total sufficiency of Scripture and our Lord’s grace in all that we need in life and speaks to the value and promise of a life lived in sanctification.

How long have you been attending HBC?

I was introduced to Highlands through the men’s bible study in 2018, was baptized and accepted for membership the following year.

What 3 things do you do for fun outside of HBC?

I’m an avid reader and a long-time listener (and occasional player and writer) of instrumental and sacred music. I discovered welding a few years back and it suits my sense of fun!
