Highlands Independence Update

Highlands Progress!

The Highlands Transition Team has morphed into the Highlands Task Action Awesome Getting Stuff Done Super All Stars. OK, well that name doesn’t really work…but still…Pastor Mike has been busy working with the HBC Elders [John Lisa, Rob Downs, and Paul Fehrenbacher] on a series of tasks to prepare for HBC becoming an independent church in January 2019. We have also been very thankful for the support of the GPBC Elders and Pastors, in particular the process savviness of the now legendary TJ Walsh.

As for specifics, our Certificate of Formation has been sent to Trenton and we hoping to be able to get our EIN and making financial preparations. One of the biggest open items is the need for a part-time book keeper. They would need to be an expert with Quicken, be available to produce monthly reports, pay monthly bills, and help with yearly budget planning. If you know of anyone who might be a fit, please let Pastor Mike know.

We are also looking for part-time volunteer graphic design support. They would need to know the Adobe suite and be available to create art to support the various ministries and programs of the church. [Think things like slides, social media posts, and printed materials.]

The team is also busy writing job descriptions for all the deacon positions and any part time/volunteer support staff. We have also started planning for various training programs for elders, care group leaders, worship team members, under-shepherds, and more!

We are also thinking ahead to missionaries we will support and networks we will participate in, not to mention planning for the Fall Kick Off of many of our ministries.

Thank you for your support of HBC, and most of all your prayers. Please continue to pray for us as we seek to continue to make and mature disciples in Vernon and beyond!
